More Than One Million Needles to Be Handed Out

Australian Broadcasting Corp. News Online (06/09/99)

The Tasmanian State needle-exchange program expects to hand out over 1 million needles and syringes this year, more than doubling the breadth of the program. Critics say that the increased demand for clean needles is evidence of how the program promotes intravenous drug use. However, Health Minister Judy Jackson says that the increased demand is indicative of the program's success.
