A Caribbean family health clinic run by Lutheran Medical
Center received $3.4 million from the Department of Health and
Human Services to help fight HIV/AIDS, Rep. Nydia Velazquez
(D- N.Y.) announced Tuesday. Lutheran's Caribbean Family
Health Center and the Caribbean Women's Health Association
will get $1.4 million for an education program, and $2 million
over the next four years will be spent on an information
exchange program between CFHC and an HIV clinic in Trinidad.
"This federal funding is another step forward in continuing
the Lutheran Medical Center's ability to help those living
with HIV get the support they need in a culturally sensitive
environment," said Velazquez.
