SAMOA: Samoa Stocks Up on Condoms Ahead of South Pacific Games

Australian Associated Press (08.09.07) - Thursday, August 09,

Samoa has imported 50,000 condoms in preparation for this month's South Pacific Games, which are to be held in the country's capital city of Apia. Around 5,000 attendees are expected, and athletes from 22 countries will compete in the August 25-Sept. 8 games. "Condom use is much more likely when people can access them at no cost, and this is the intention of the Safe Games Committee," said Neli Wightman, the group's secretary. Each athlete and official will receive a personal supply of condoms, and the contraceptives will also be handed out in bars, nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, and at the National Hospital.
