AIDS Treat News. 1999 Nov 5;(No 330):1-2. Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE

The FDA's Antiviral Drugs Advisory Committee voted against approval of adefovir dipivoxil (Preveon) for treating HIV. Although adefovir seems to have modest antiretroviral benefit, there is a risk of serious kidney toxicity in long-term use. Adefovir appears to be far more active in treating hepatitis B than HIV.
