Objectives: To test blood donors in order to prevent blood related HIV
transmission. Methods: Voluntary donors and replacement donors were
screened for HIV antibody by serodia method in addition to VDRL and
HBSAg. Results: 3695 blood donors were screened during May 1992 to Dec.
1995 (3.5 years). Voluntary donors 34% and replacement donors 66%.
HIV-positive 1 or 0.028%. Age 18-60 years. Sex - Male 87%, Female 13%.
