Gay man must pay $25,000 for putting lover at risk for HIV.

AIDS Policy Law. 1998 Sep 18;13(17):1, 7. Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE

A San Francisco court has ordered Alan Louie to pay Mychael Robinson $25,000 for emotional pain and suffering resulting from Louie's failure to reveal his HIV status to Robinson, before they had unprotected sex. The court found Louie liable for sexual battery, because Robinson would not have agreed to have unprotected sex if Louie's HIV status had been known. The damages cover the emotional suffering experienced during the 6 months between Robinson's possible exposure and his final negative HIV test.
