Atlanta Journal-Constitution (11.10.11) - Friday, November
The Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness said this
week that some people at the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the
Homeless shelter have been diagnosed with active drug-
resistant TB. In addition to the shelter's regular residents,
about 100 Occupy Atlanta demonstrators have been living there
following their Oct. 26 eviction from downtown's Woodruff
Park. "We have gone as far as having our folks get tested
today for TB," group leader Tim Franzen said Thursday night.
The tests found the infection in "zero people, not even
halfway infected. No trace of any TB at all," he said. The
task force operates on the building's lower floors, while the
demonstrators are living on the top floor. The health
department said the individuals who tested positive are being
monitored to ensure they take their medication as prescribed.
