MICHIGAN: Muskegon Church Offers Free Condoms to All Who Want Them

Muskegon Chronicle (12.14.11) - Friday, December 16, 2011

Muskegon's Harbor Unitarian Universalist Congregation has begun offering free condoms to its members and the public. "We're not trying to encourage teens or anyone else to have sex," said the Rev. Bill Freeman, adding that the church's board of trustees endorsed the program unanimously. "We just want to make sure that nobody gets a disease or ends up dying because they contract [HIV]." Free condoms, as well as information about STDs, are available in the church's bathrooms, "no questions asked," Freeman said. The church, located at 1296 Montgomery, also will present a free screening of the AIDS-related movie "Rent" at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.
