Marking National Condom Week and Valentine's Day, the
California Family Health Council teamed with the California
Department of Health to launch the "Condom Access Project."
CAP's website lets youths in select counties, including San
Francisco, go online to request a package containing 10
condoms, lubricant, and informational materials; youths can
order one package per month. The site also directs teens to
local youth organizations where they can receive free condoms.
"We know from research that significant barriers to condom
access remain for youth," said CFHC President and CEO Julie
Rabinovitz. "They cost a lot, youth are uncomfortable asking
for them, and in some areas, free condoms can be hard to
find." For more information, visit www.teensource.org.
