LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Porn producers who want to film in
Los Angeles had better remember to bring condoms to the set since
the City Council made their use mandatory.
The council voted 9-1 Tuesday to require condoms be used on all
film shoots in the city, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Surprise workplace inspections will be financed by fees collected
from porn producers, the Times said.
"This is government overreach," Diane Duke of the lobbying group

The measure was sought by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation as a way
to protect the health of porn actors but was opposed by the porn
industry, the newspaper said.
"It's a great day for the performers and safer sex in our
society," foundation President Michael Weinstein said. "This is
the first legislative body to take up the issue, and the
near-unanimous support is very gratifying."
The ordinance pre-empts the foundation's push to get the measure
put on the ballot for a public referendum, but it will still try
