Foster the People booked for Elton Oscar party

United Press International - January 25, 2012

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Foster the People has been booked to perform at the Elton John Aids Foundation's 20th annual Academy Awards viewing party in Los Angeles, organizers said.

In addition to the performance by the indie pop trio, the fundraising dinner will feature a menu by celebrity chef Cat Cora, the foundation said in a news release Wednesday.

John and his husband David Furnish are to serve as hosts of the Feb. 26 event at West Hollywood Park. The Academy Awards are to be presented that evening for the best in film for 2011.

The money raised is intended to be used to increase EJAF's investments in its grant-making initiatives, which support HIV prevention and treatment programs, stigma reduction efforts and direct services to persons living with HIV/AIDS -- especially marginalized populations with special needs -- the foundation said.
