The 17th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2008)—the world’s largest meeting focused on all aspects of the epidemic—took place August 3–8 in Mexico City. The 48th Annual Interscience Conference on Antiretroviral Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) this year was held jointly with the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) annual meeting on October 25–28 in Washington, DC.
