AIDS Treatment Update, No. 44, August 1996
A single 200 mg dose of the anti-fungal fluconazole each week
effectively reduces the occurrence of oral and vaginal Candida
in HIV-positive women, according to an American study which
enrolled 323 women with CD4 counts below 300. Taking
fluconazole prophylaxis did not appear to increase the risk of
developing fluconazole-resistant strains of Candida (Tu.B.411).
