Pharmbiz.com (10.20.12) The Bombay Hospital has recently introduced a more technologically advanced PET-CT scanner (the True Flight PET-CT ) for the more immediate diagnosis of drug-resistant TB and other inflammatory diseases, which will allow doctors to more quickly treat patients. The PET-CT scanner scans the patient’s body in seven to eight minutes, in comparison to previous scanners which took longer. Dr. B. A. Krishna, head of nuclear medicine and Pet Imaging at Bombay Hospital, notes that since drug-resistant TB is a major problem in India, they are concentrating on providing immediate treatment to those patients. Recently, the World Health Organization has predicted that more than two million individuals will contract multi-drug resistant TB by the year 2015.
