AHF: Fill the Toy Box for Kids in Need and Get FROSTED!

It’s the holiday season, and for the past 17 years that has meant one thing for AIDS Healthcare Foundation: the annual Toy Box benefit party to collect toys for the children of families impacted by HIV/AIDS. And for the second year in a row, AHF’s Impulse Group is joining in the merriment to remind everyone, “Don’t just wrap your Christmas presents!” The fun-loving crew of safer sex advocates will host their second annual FROSTED party immediately following the Toy Box bash in a massive tent erected in the heart of West Hollywood

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AIDS Healthcare Foundation:

What: 17th annual Toy Box Party / 2nd annual FROSTED Party

When: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8th 5 PM – 2 AM

Where: “WeHo Winter Wonderland” | 8752 El Tovar Place (off of Robertson, directly behind Tortilla Republic) | West Hollywood, CA

Who: AIDS Healthcare Foundation & Impulse Group

B-ROLL Toys, Boys, and Santa!

The holiday season is always a peak donation time every year, and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has been optimizing that giving spirit for the past 17 years with the annual Toy Box Party, where guests earn admission with one unwrapped toy that will then be donated to children of Southern California families impacted by HIV/AIDS. Launched in a New York City church in 1995 and attended then by just 50 people, the event has grown to thousands of attendees all bearing gifts to benefit the children of impacted families.

This year AHF expects to collect the 100,000th toy of the Toy Box tradition, and all donated gifts will benefit Southern California families including clients of AHF, AIDS Project LA, Bienestar, and the Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project. With that single unwrapped toy donation, guests will get to enjoy music, dancing, free drinks, and free photos with Santa!

The Toy Box benefit is co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, Frontiers magazine, The Abbey Food & Bar, and Here Lounge.

“Earlier this year, during Disability Awareness Month, the city of West Hollywood and its awesome Disability Advisory Board honored Toy Box Party as the nonprofit event of the year,” said Dana Miller, AHF’s Executive Producer of Events and one of the original creators of the Toy Box event. “Our California Assembly and Senate joined in and commended us as well, which was a very real blessing!”

The Toy Box Party will be held in a 1,000-person-capacity tent from 5 pm – 9 pm, and then the party transitions to FROSTED, the second annual holiday event hosted by Impulse Group, an AHF-affiliated group of safer sex advocates created to appeal to young gay men on the party circuit with encouragement to always use condoms and get tested for HIV regularly.

Tickets to FROSTED are available for $25 at Impulse Group’s website, or guests have the option of bringing an unwrapped toy to contribute to the donation box and thereby gain free entry. The party will go until 2 am, and guests are encouraged to park in the West Hollywood Library parking lot.
