Arthur Ashe items being sold online

UPI

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles auctioneer is selling numerous items related to tennis great Arthur Ashe, including his wisdom teeth.

Nate D. Sanders, who is selling the items at natedsanders.com, said the items are being sold on behalf of the Ashe family and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Arthur Ashe Learning Center, which aims to promote the player's athletic and activist legacy, CNN reported Friday.

The items for sale include Ashe's 1993 day planner, which contains his own final handwritten notes and message to his daughter prior to his AIDS-related death at the age of 49.

Other Ashe items in the auction include his U.S. passport, his 1968 U.S. Open doubles trophy silver plate, 213 programs from the player's funeral and a collection of "unique and personal items" including two of his wisdom teeth.
