The Web site myHIV, hosted by the HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust, recently added real-time online peer support through the site’s community forums. The charity has recruited and trained HIV-positive volunteers from England, Scotland, and Wales to log in every evening—with the exception of Saturdays—to the myHIV Community Forums where they chat with individuals, answer questions, and provide confidential one-on-one support. For specific questions on topics such as benefits and housing, the volunteers refer users to other resources for further advice and information. The peer support team includes a range of ethnicities, sexualities, and ages, and all have received OCN-accredited training as well as City & Guilds qualification in “Understanding HIV and Sexual Health.” For further information or to register on the Web site, visit www.myHIV.org.uk.
