The Bismarck Tribune reported that since performing hepatitis C testing on more than 350 individuals associated with a ManorCare Health Services nursing home in Minot, N.D., after possible exposure to the virus, the North Dakota Health Department identified 27 individuals infected with the virus and plans to test hundreds more residents in the area. The health department has identified approximately 230 additional individuals who might have been exposed to the virus, and is asking them to be tested in early November. The outbreak began in August from the same strain, suggesting the possibility of a common source, according to State Epidemiologist Tracy Miller. Investigators are continuing to work to find the infection source, including looking at common sources of medical treatment.
