Los Angeles Daily News (02.12.2014)
The Los Angeles Daily News reported that a 38-foot-long “condom-mobile” bus will visit different areas of Los Angeles County Thursday and Friday, February 13–14, to distribute “official” Los Angeles condoms as part of a Valentine’s Day safe sex promotion. The promotion also is part of the county’s “Suit Up, L.A.” public health campaign. From 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., on Thursday, the bus will distribute condoms at the Downtown L.A. Art Walk Lounge, and will start distributing at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Rage Nightclub in West Hollywood. A March 2013 public health report rated the county as having the second largest HIV/AIDS population in the United States, with 78,000 HIV-positive residents and 1,500–2,500 new HIV infections reported annually. Data from another 2013 report showed an increase in the rate of infection for other STDs. For information on other condom-mobile stops, visit www.lacondom.com. The site also provides information on other locations for free year-round condom distributions. Residents can collect condoms at the permanent distribution sites or have them mailed for free.
