Judy Tabar, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE), warns that mandatory sequestration budget cuts will affect women who receive healthcare from the Title X Family Planning Program, leaving them without preventive healthcare and affordable birth control. Title X program services include birth control, Pap tests, breast exams, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.
Tabar stated that the cuts resulting from sequestration could reduce Title X funding by $15 million in 2013, in addition to $23 million in budget reductions throughout the last two years. PPSNE provides health services to more than 70,000 men, women, and teens.
