INDIA: CMC Observes World TB Day

E-Pao (03.23.13) Aids Weekly Plus

One day in advance of World TB Day, students of the College of Nursing, Catholic Medical Centre (CMC) in Koirengei, India, performed a street play at the hospital campus on March 23 as a way to promote public awareness of global efforts to eliminate the spread of TB. Dr. AD Singh, medical superintendent of CMC Hospital, delivered the keynote address of the day’s event, focusing on the hospital’s mission and goals for the upcoming year. Singh stated that, while there is a call for zero TB deaths, the fight against the disease is drastically underfunded. Every day, 4,000 individuals lose their lives to TB despite the fact that the disease is curable at relatively low cost.
