On April 9, the Alliance for Housing and Healing, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit, hosted its annual gala to raise funds that help the Alliance provide food and housing for impoverished people with HIV/AIDS. The annual gala, called “A Faire of the Heart,” was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Hal Sparks, a Queer As Folk actor, served as the master of ceremonies. Oscar-winner Cloris Leachman was presented with the Celebrity Trailblazer Award to honor her work as a pioneering woman in the world of film, television, and comedy. Dr. Phillip Musikanth received the Alliance Humanitarian Award for treating patients with HIV and AIDS for 25 years. The group honored Laurie Hasencamp, Esq. with the Visionary Award, for her service and commitment to the HIV-positive and LGBT communities.
