Daily Progress (Charlottesville) (09.12.2013) Aids Weekly Plus

Health officials announced that all but one TB test administered to volunteers, guests, and employees of a homeless day shelter in downtown Charlottesville, Va., have come back with negative results. Thomas Jefferson Health District officials undertook the screening of 37 percent of the shelter’s guests exposed to the disease and 86 percent of the shelter’s volunteers and employees after one of the homeless guests was diagnosed with active TB the previous month. According to District Director Dr. Lilian Peake, further testing was unnecessary.
