Ghana Business News reported that 45 health workers participated in a two-day TB control training workshop organized by the Yendi Municipal Health Directorate. The participants included community health nurses, disease control officers, and zonal coordinators, as well as members of community health and religious organizations. The workshop gave an introduction to the National TB Program of Ghana, and provided information on clinical presentation, TB investigation and diagnosis, specimen collection techniques, patient follow-up, monthly review, and treatment interruption prevention. Madam Denisia Agong, Yendi municipal director of health services, reminded participants that TB can be cured and the treatment is free. She also advised participants that as stakeholders, they had acquired the knowledge and skills to be able to advise people suspected of having TB to go to the nearest hospital for treatment.
