CDC's latest teen pregnancy report, released Tuesday, shows
Mississippi with the highest teen birthrate, 55 births per
1,000 teens ages 15-19, more than 60 percent above the overall
US figure of 34.3. In contrast, New Hampshire's rate of 15.7
was less than half the national average. Between 2007 and
2010, the rate fell by 8 percent or more in 47 states and the
District of Columbia. Only West Virginia, Montana, and North
Dakota registered little decline. While the teen pregnancy
rate in the United States has a reached a historic low, CDC
noted that it remains among the highest seen in industrialized
nations.
