Communities across the state will share almost $117 million in
funding through programs administered by the Department of
Housing and Urban Development. The money will support efforts
that focus on housing for low- and moderate-income residents,
as well as emergency shelters. Most of the funds will go to
programs in Chicago, according to a release from the office of
Sen. Dick Durbin, including one offering housing assistance to
people with HIV/AIDS and their families.
