In honor of Hepatitis Awareness Month, the Alabama Department of Public Health and CDC are encouraging the public to learn more about the risk factors of viral hepatitis. In addition, May 19 is the second national observance of Hepatitis Testing Day. Some form of liver disease affects one in 10 individuals in the United States. Alabama’s Director of the Divisions of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis Prevention and Control Jane Cheeks joins CDC’s Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy in urging other agencies to implement the Action Plan for the Prevention, Care, and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis.
