Globegazette.com reported that a program funded by a grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health is helping Mason City youth make informed choices about their sexual lives. Betty Krones, disease prevention specialist with the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, presents the Personal Responsibility Education Program as a nine-month curriculum to students at the Mason City Alternative High School. The program intends to help students reduce their risk of unintended pregnancy, HIV/AIDs, and other STDs. The program additionally gives students a contact person for accurate information about STDs.
