Washington Post (01/21/90), P. A13

New York City Mayor David Dinkins has appointed Woodrow Myers as the city's next health commissioner despite the fierce objections of gay- and AIDS-rights activists. Myers has been criticized for policies he supported during his tenure as Indiana's health commissioner, including contact tracing of the HIV-infected and quarantining persons who knowingly spread HIV. "I don't see the need to bring those kinds of systems to New York," Myers said.
