OBJECTIVES: The detection of immune status indexes characterizing certain HIV-infection stage. METHODS: The immune status dynamic investigation in HIV-infected persons since infection moment till ARC development or AIDS large-scale picture. RESULTS: The immune status dynamic investigation of HIV-infected persons allowed to detect 4 laboratory-immunological stages of HIV-infection. The first one is observed in HIV-infected persons without the disease clinical signs and characterized only by IgA concentration increase in serum; the second is typical for patients with ARC and is manifested by the decrease in CD4+ cells number (to 400-200 cells/mcl), CD16+ cells number decrease and proliferative activity lowering at peripheral blood cells (PBC) stimulation with PWM. At this stage we revealed a stable increase in different Ig classes concentration in serum. The third stage presents AIDS large-scale picture analogues to the second one, except for CD4+ cells which number was reduced to 200. There was the decrease in CD4+ cells number (to 100 and lower), the absence of the effect at PBC stimulation with PWM and normalization or lowering of Ig concentration at the fourth (terminal) stage. CONCLUSIONS: The results obtained demonstrate that not only CD4+ cells are the immune status prognostically significant indexes but Ig concentration and proliferative response to PWM as well. The point of the results discussed is the progressive elimination of CD4+ cells differing by their proliferative activity.
