The development of cognitive impairment is a frequent complication over
the course of HIV infection that can be present in over 20% of the
patients in advanced stages of the illness. There is a clear need for
screening instruments that allows the clinician to identify easily this
condition. This paper reviews the three-paper and pencil and the three
computer-based screening tests that have been developed for this
purpose. The main features and the possibility of cross-cultural
adaptation are discussed.
