TENNESSEE: Abstinence-Based Sex Education Gets Tennessee Grants

The Tennessee Department of Health has announced it is awarding $3.2 million in federal funds to support abstinence education programs. The funding comes from the 2010 Affordable Care Act and will be shared among 13 organizations. Recipients include the YMCA of Middle Tennessee ($294,900) and the Nashville nonprofits Fashioned in His Image Total Women's Center Inc. ($162,000) and New Vision Inc. ($300,000). Each organization is required to match 75 percent of the federal money, which will be used during a three-year cycle.
