LOS ANGELES, (AP) - Supporters of a measure requiring adult film
actors to wear condoms on shoots in Los Angeles County say
they've already collected most of the signatures they need to get
on the November ballot.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation said in a statement Monday that in
two months the organization has collected more than half the
232,153 signatures it needs, and it has three months left.
The group is holding a Tuesday news conference to talk about its
County officials have said the issue is best left to the state,
and the porn industry has opposed the move, saying it already
does extensive testing and performers should be able to choose
whether to use condoms.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (vee-yah-ry-GOH'-sah)
signed a similar ordinance for the city last month.
