Orange County Ride for AIDS takes off October 15: Cycling event to cover 100 miles through heart of Orange County

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- WHAT: AIDS Services Foundation Orange County (ASF) is holding its second annual Orange County Ride for AIDS (OCRA), a fundraising event designed to raise money for ASF client services. Last year the event attracted over 100 riders and raised about $100,000.

This year's ride includes Century (100 miles) and Metric Century (62 miles) courses through some of the most scenic parts of Orange County from the hills to the beach. There are several pit stops along the way and riders may cover as much of the course as desired.

WHERE: The ride begins and ends at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo WHEN: Saturday, October 15, 2011. Rider check-in begins at 5:30 a.m. Opening ceremony at 7:00 a.m. Ride route opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. Closing ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

ABOUT ASF: HIV disease continues to spread in Orange County at a rate of about one new infection a day. Annually, ASF helps more 1,600 men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Orange County. Services include food, transportation, housing, case management, emergency financial assistance, children and family programs, Latino outreach programs, mental health counseling, support groups, HIV testing, and an extensive array of HIV prevention and education programs.
