The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has donated 25 million Tanzanian shillings (approximately US $16,000) worth of equipment to 148 home-based service providers in Mufindi, Tanzania. The program is meant to improve the quality of HIV and AIDS services as part of the Tunajali project funded by PEPFAR. At the ceremony to hand over the equipment, Edna Diallo, project manager for the Iringa region, noted that this move by the US government had helped to change people’s beliefs in the Iringa region that donor support never reaches the targeted people in rural areas. The equipment included bicycles, boots, and raincoats.
