LONDON, November 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- M.A.C Cosmetics is going to make twice the impact this year on World AIDS Day. On Saturday, December 1 M.A.C Cosmetics will match all VIVA GLAM product sales on any of the ecommerce sites, for a double donation. Typically one VIVA GLAM purchase can buy five meals for a person living with HIV but with M.A.C Cosmetics' donation match on World AIDS Day a VIVA GLAM lipstick purchased online can buy 10 meals.
"M.A.C's commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS occurs 365 days a year through the sales of our VIVA GLAM products, every single penny from the RRP of the M.A.C VIVA GLAM products (less VAT) goes directly to the M.A.C AIDS Fund. This year on World AIDS Day, M.A.C is going to make an even bigger impact by matching all sales of VIVA GLAM products purchased on maccosmetics.co.uk and giving twice the money to the M.A.C AIDS Fund," says John Demsey, Chairman of the M.A.C AIDS Fund and Group President, The Estee LauderCompanies.
To date the M.A.C AIDS Fund has raised more than $270 million dollars which have helped men, women and children globally living with HIV/AIDS.
Additionally in the week leading up to World AIDS Day, M.A.C Cosmetics employees around the world will put away their makeup brushes and use their helping hands to participate in an annual company-wide volunteer effort for World AIDS Day. Organised by the M.A.C AIDS Fund, this volunteer initiative involves more than 2,000 M.A.C employees in 36 countries worldwide. M A C employees will donate their time, energy and skills to local organisations dedicated to improving the well being of individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
In partnership with 'Waverly Care', in Edinburgh's Festival Theatre, M A C artists will express their artistry by body painting models to help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. A model's body will be painted like a jigsaw puzzle and members of the public will have the opportunity to fill in the spaces with a colour that represents how they feel about HIV/AIDS. In London, 'Positive Parenting and Children' will see a team of M A C artists and employees pick up their DIY tools and revamp their offices - bringing new life to their facilities.
"Our employees take great pride in the fact that every single penny from the RRP of the M.A.C VIVA GLAM products (less VAT) goes directly towards improving the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS," said Nancy Mahon, Global Executive Director of the M.A.C AIDS Fund and Senior Vice President of M A C Cosmetics. "The company is bonded by our commitment to the M.A.C AIDS Fund, the heart and soul of the M A C brand."
The volunteer efforts will kick off the week leading up to World AIDS Day and on Friday, November 30 through December 1, the M.A.C AIDS Fund will take over M.A.C's Twitter handle @MACcosmetics to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and to give a glimpse into the huge impact VIVA GLAM products have made in the lives of those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Join in on the conversation using #WAD2012 and #VIVAGLAM2x.
