The 17th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA 2013), Africa’s largest AIDS conference, will provide a special platform to assess progress and developments regarding HIV/AIDS. ICASA 2013 will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, December 7–11, 2013, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The conference is being held two years before 2015, which is the target date for completion of the UN Millennium Development Goals. ICASA’s theme for 2013 is “Now More than Ever: Targeting Zero.” Professor Robert Soudre, president of the Society for AIDS in Africa, will chair the conference, with Professor Ian Sanne, chief executive officer of Right Care and associate professor of internal medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand, serving as co-chair. Soudre stated, “Our continent is at a crossroads, this is the time for efficiency, innovation, and pragmatic approaches to tackle the issues surrounding HIV. [Approximately] 10,000 of the world’s leading scientists, policymakers, activists, government, and civil society leaders are expected to join the debate.”
