State officials are recognizing Donna Palmer, a nurse with the Norton Board of Health, for her efforts in eliminating TB. In observance of World TB Day on March 24, state officials and community leaders will honor her Tuesday, March 26, at the Massachusetts State House for her work with a large-scale contact investigation of people exposed to an active case of TB. Palmer is the case manager for Norton residents who have been diagnosed with TB. β€œI see to it that they receive their medications which are free of charge from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health,” she explained. Palmer noted that free clinics in the area provide medical care that includes blood tests and chest x-rays. Palmer emphasizes that it is a treatable disease if managed properly, and watching people overcome TB is one of the reasons she is involved. She declared, β€œIt is very gratifying when you are able to see patients improve remarkably.”
