Two winners of 2013’s Rhode Island Innovation Fellowship were announced on April 23, each winning a grant worth $300,000. Lynn Taylor, a doctor at Miriam Hospital, will work to make Rhode Island the first state to eradicate Hepatitis C through a project that will focus on building awareness, rapid testing for the virus, and access to care for patients. Designer Adrienne Gagnon’s project will train new designers through mobile design labs and an online, interactive design curriculum portal. In its second year, the fellowship is funded by philanthropists John and Letitia Carter. This year’s winners were among 180 applicants.
