In recognition of Hepatitis Awareness Month in May, Giant Eagle Specialty Pharmacy is teaming up with the American Liver Foundation to offer a series of free hepatitis C screenings at four Pittsburgh-area Giant Eagle pharmacies on April 27 and May 4, 11, and 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The participating pharmacies will be Monroeville Giant Eagle, 4010 Monroeville Boulevard, Monroeville, PA 15146; Robinson Market District, 100 Settlers Ridge Center Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205; South Hills Market District, 7000 Oxford Drive, Bethel Park, PA 15102; Township of Pine of Market District, 155 Towne Centre Drive, Wexford, PA 15090. US estimates indicate that more than 3 million individuals have a chronic hepatitis C infection and that the majority are unaware they are infected due to lack of symptoms. CDC estimates that one-time testing of all those born between 1945 and 1965 could prevent more than 120,000 fatalities. For further information on hepatitis C, visit the American Liver Foundation at www.liverfoundation.org , call the toll-free number at 1–800–465–4837, or visit www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/c/.
