Middlesex County, N.J., will receive slightly more than $1 million in federal funds for its Ryan White HIV/AIDS program targeting low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. Announcing the funding on February 21, Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) stated that since New Jersey ranks high in the United States in numbers of reported HIV/AIDS cases, the funding for the Ryan White program of Middlesex would provide critical support for the medical care and other services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS that have no means of paying for services. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS program is the largest federal program targeted specifically for individuals with HIV/AIDS in the United States and works with city, state, and local community-based organizations to provide services to more than 500,000 individuals with HIV/AIDS each year.
