NORTH CAROLINA: Possible Exposure to Hepatitis A

Jackson County, N.C., and state health officials are working together with the High Hampton Inn restaurant in Cashiers, N.C., to investigate a reported isolated case of hepatitis A in a restaurant employee. The restaurant has been proactive in contacting patrons and taking needed measures to prevent transmission of the virus. As a precautionary measure, the Jackson County Department of Public Health is asking anyone who visited the restaurant April 26–29 or May 1, 2013, to contact the health department for information on how to avoid illness in the event they were exposed to the virus.
