TEXAS: HIV/AIDS Cases on the Rise Nationally, in Travis County

According to AIDS Services of Austin Executive Director Paul Scott, Travis County, Texas, reported 242 HIV diagnoses and 124 AIDS diagnoses in 2011. Currently, Travis County has 3,763 residents with HIV/AIDS; Texas reported more than 69,000 cases in 2011. Between 2005 and 2011, the number of HIV cases reported in the state rose 34 percent.
