Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) will offer two massive open online courses (MOOCs) beginning this fall that will focus on TB and dementia. Jason E. Farley, PhD, MPH, CRNP, a researcher and nurse practitioner recently named a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, will teach Global TB Clinical Management and Research, a “state-of-the-art clinical and research course” for those interested in TB and TB/HIV co-infection. According to Farley, although TB was relatively rare in the United States at present, it remained the leading cause of death globally among HIV-infected patients. Farley will teach the nine-week MOOC on the openware course platform Coursera on behalf of JHUSON and will begin on September 30 with an anticipated workload of two to four hours per week. JHUSON will also offer the MOOC Care of Elders with Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Major Neurocognitive Disorders beginning October 14 on Coursera.
