Beginning August 19, the Adult Production Health & Safety Services (APHSS), operated by the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) to uphold industry health and safety protocols and standards for self-regulation, announced that adult film performers will be tested for hepatitis B and C and screened for the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis, in addition to the standard STD testing protocol that screens for HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia. FSC Chief Executive Officer Diane Duke said the medical advisory council working with APHSS recommended adding these screenings to the regular monthly and twice-monthly tests for performers. The new protocol requires blood tests for hepatitis B and C every 28 days for performers and a urine sample for trichomoniasis required for every performer panel each 14 or 28 days.
