After learning that a cafeteria worker at York University’s Glendon College, Toronto, Canada, was diagnosed with active TB in July, Toronto Public Health began testing food court staff and found three individuals with latent TB infection (LTBI). So far, officials did not know if the three workers with LTBI contracted the disease form the index patient. Toronto Public Health will continue administering skin tests this week to 20 more food court employees. The health board is treating the individuals with LTBI, who are not contagious and continue to work. The four workers diagnosed with TB were born outside of Canada. Toronto Public Health usually treats 300 TB cases per year.
