An article in the Jakarta Post reported that on October 31, the Indonesian Health Ministry and the nongovernmental organization Indonesia AIDS Coalition jointly launched the first mobile application for HIV/AIDS information and services in the Asia Pacific region. According to Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi, the new mobile application, called AIDS Digital, will support the government’s efforts to achieve its Millennium Development Goals on AIDS and will offer information on types of HIV services available, HIV testing sites, care services, and schedules. Mboi said that the application allows users to avoid cultural obstacles such as embarrassment or stigma and provides an opportunity to deliver messages on HIV/AIDS prevention and control to young audiences.
