The Nation recently reported that, in an effort to reduce HIV infections in Bangkok, the International Labour Organisation, UNAIDS, and the Thailand Business Coalition on AIDS launched a voluntary HIV counseling and testing (VCT) program, called VCT@WORK, on November 15. The program hopes to perform 100,000 voluntary HIV tests on individuals in their workplace by the end of 2015. Anthony Pramualratana, senior advisor for Thailand Business Coalition on AIDS, said although Thailand has many different options for accessing free HIV testing and treatment, the challenge has been to publicize that information. Businesses can assist with getting out the message. Thailand is home to an estimated 480,000 HIV-positive individuals, of which only 240,000 are receiving treatment.
