Thousand Oaks Acorn (11.21.2013) The Thousand Oaks Acorn reported that California Lutheran University’s Center for Equality and Justice (CEJ) will hold a candlelight vigil and host a panel discussion on Tuesday, December 3, in recognition of World AIDS Day. The discussion, to be held from 2:15–3:55 p.m. in the Swenson Center of Thousand Oaks campus at 141 Faculty Street in Ventura, Calif., will feature an HIV-positive speaker panel. Following the panel will be a candlelight vigil from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. on the Swenson Center patio. World AIDS Day, which began in 1988 as a call for greater HIV/AIDS awareness and social tolerance, officially falls on December 1. This year’s theme is “Getting to Zero—HIV and Adolescents.” The World Health Organization will launch new guidelines on HIV testing, counseling, treatment, and care for adolescents living with HIV to show that people 10 to 24 years old continue to be vulnerable to HIV infection.
