The St. Louis American reported that St. Louis’s Harris-Stowe State University’s Office of Counseling Services received a three-year grant totaling $802,414 from the US Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse and Prevention. The grant was targeted to minority-serving institutions partnering with community-based organizations; the project is designed to prevent and reduce substance abuse and transmission of HIV/AIDS among young minority adults ages 18–24 on college campuses. The university will partner with Williams and Associates to provide substance abuse and HIV prevention programming both on campus and to surrounding communities.
